Expanding Our Mission Beyond Virginia
Since 2008, our organizational “why” has been to treat every youth we encounter as if he or she were related to us—to treat every youth as if their success mattered it us because we believe it is the right thing to do.
In pursuing our organizational mission we have developed products and services that have made a real and quantifiable difference in the successful transition to adult life of the youth we work with. We believe that products like our series of Smart Guides for Youth and their adult mentors, coaches, counselors, or parents or our Smart Transitions Life-Work Portfolio Course Online could be as beneficial and useful to youth outside of our direct service area and we now offer those products directly.
And, while it is beyond our capacity to offer in-person classes to youth outside of our service area, we have developed an online training program to certify instructors in the presentation of the Smart Transitions Life-Work Portfolio Course so that motivated teachers and counselors can bring this program and it’s significant outcomes to their communities wherever they are.

With years of strong evidence for improving outcomes for over 13,000 youth who were struggling to transition to adult life and work, we are now in a position to expand our resources and programmatic interventions to agencies and organizations that serve youth, and, by extension, the youth themselves.
